Sushi: Making Nigiri-Sushi

Nigiri zushi☆Nigiri-Sushi☆

Here’s how to make Japanese Nigiri-Sushi. This may take some practise as it’s not so easy as it looks. So take your time and have fun with the kids this summer making sushi. Since the kids are on summer vacation now we plan to make this on the weekend, cause the hubby is also on vacation from work.

Ingredients:

☆ sushi rice, cooked with 2cup rice
☆ 6 shrimps
☆ 6 slice tuna
☆ 6 slice sea bream
☆ 6 slices squid
* you can use your favorit fish or any food*

☆ grated wasabi (horseradish)
☆ soy sauce
☆ sweet vinegared ginger
☆ “tezu” ( water and vinegar)

Directions:

1. Make sushi rice

2. Devein the shrimps, and skewer while straightening. Put the
shrimps, as well as a small amount of water, sake and salt
(except quantity) into a pot and simmer while stirring until
all the liquid is gone. Skin the shrimps and open up the belly side.

3. Cut the fish in to 6cmX4mm pieces. Cut the seabream and squid
into slightly thinner pieces than tuna.

4-1.
Moisthen your hands with “TEZU”. Take about 20g rice in your
hand.

4-2.
Shape rice into a roughly rectangular form while rolling lightly
4-3.
Lay topping across the second join of fingers og your left hand.
4-4.
Scoop up some wasabi with the index finger of right hand while holding rice, and smear in center of the topping in the left hand.
4-5.
Put the rice in the right hand onto the topping in the left hand,
Press center of the rice lightly with thumb od the left hand,
Press both side of the rice lightly with the thumb.
4-6.
Middle finger of the right hand and make a vertical indent on the
right hand.
4-7.
Turn the sushi over so that the topping faces up.
4-8.
Press and form the rice into a wore defined shape with the index and middle fingers of the righr hand.
4-9.
Tirn the sushi 180°on the palm of the left hand.
4-10.
Press both sides with the thumb and index finger of the right hand.
