Today’s Japanese Cooking Style is called Deep Fried Lotus Root and Shrimp Sandwiches or れんこんのはさみ揚げ in Japanese.  This is a very tasty and delicious style of sandwich, something a little different from your bread type style.  I hope you enjoy making this with or for your family.

Ingredients:

☆ 4 lotus root, cut into 5㎜ pieces

☆ 200g shrimps

☆ 10㎝ naganegi onion, cut into mince

☆ 1/2 knob ginger, cut into mince

☆ 1 tsp sake

☆ Flour

☆ Oil for deep- frying

Direction:

1. Soak the lotus root in vinegar-added water for 4-5 min, and wipe dry.

2. Combine the shrimps, naganegi onion, ginger, starch, sake, and salt, and in a food processor and grind.

3. Pair the lotus roots slice, lightly dust one side of each slice with flour. Put the ground shrimp mixture, on the side dusted with flour, and place another slice of lotus root on top it to make sandwich. Lightly sprinkle on the flour.
