☆Deep-Fried Tofu with Amber Sauce(揚げ出し豆腐) ☆
Good Morning Everyone, Have a great weekend so far? It’s 5 days until Christmas here and maybe 6 where you are. Have you gotten all your Christmas Shopping done? I finally got mines done last night, and boy the Shopping Malls are just full of Shoppers. Now I have to think of what to make for Christmas dinner for the family. What is your family having for Christmas? Here in Japan most people who don’t like to cook on that day usually order KFC(Kentucky Fried Chicken) Christmas special package. This is done every year where people place and order and pick them up on that day of Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I like to stick on making my families dinner.
Well, Todays Japanese Cooking Style is called Deep-Fried Tofu with Amber Sauce or 揚げ出し豆腐 in Japanese. This is a very good side dish and very easy to make. I hope you enjoy this recipe.
Let’s see what we need to make our Deep-Fried Tofu with Amber Sauce.
Ingredients:
☆ 2 pack soft tofu
☆ 3 tbsp grated white radish
☆ 2-3 asatsuki chive
☆ 1/3 cup dashi stock
☆ 2 tsp soy sauce
☆ 1 tsp mirin
☆ potatistarch
☆ vegetable oil for deep frying
Direction:
1. Wrap the tosu with a paper towel and place on a tray, and let stand for 30 min to eliminate excess moisture. Cut the asatsuki chive into the edge cut.
2. Cut the tofu in half, coat thinly with potatostarch and deep fry in oil(preheat to 170℃). When the tofu turn light brown and float up to surface, take out of the pan and drain on a tray.
3. Place the dashi stock, soy sauce and mirin in a small pot, and bring to the boil to make sauce.
4. Arrange the tofu on a plate, and pour on the sauce, garnish with grated white radish and asatsuki chive.
