☆Gingerbread Men(ジンジャーマンクッキー) ☆

Good Afternoon Everyone and Happy Holidays to all.  It’s Christmas Day here and the kids are all up early today to open their presents.  The Holiday is not like other countries here in Japan.  It’s more like giving and receiving gifts and spending time with loved ones.  Most of all it for the retailers to make money.  My hubby explain whats Christmas was about, but its totally different here for most of the people.  Well, I hope you all have a Great Holiday Season with you family and loved ones.

Todays Japanese Cooking Recipe is called Gingerbread Men or ジンジャーマンクッキー in Japanese.  This is not a Japanese recipe but it was given from a great friend from the US and I thought I try this on Christmas Day for the family.  We don’t really have a Christmas traditional dinner here like other countries but I think I will make some thing special for them tonight, I will share this tomorrow with everyone.

Let’s see what we need to make our Gingerbread Men Cookies.

Direction:

1. Beat butter and sugar together in a bowl .

2. Add egg yolk and vanilla and beat mixture until it is smooth.

3. Add flour and spices, mixing everything together to form smooth dough.

4. Mould dough into  bowl wrap, in plastic film, and leave in a fridge for 30 min.

5. Roll dough until it is about 5㎜ thick on a surface sprinkled with flour. Cut into shapes.

6. Bake for about 20 min at 170- 180℃ until golden.

7. Mix icing sugar and water ,draw faces on the cookies.
