Good Morning Everyone, its Valentines Day.  Did your special one give you something special today?  Here in Japan we celebrate Valentines Day a little weird, from what my hubby does in the States.  Usually the girls or women give the chocolates to the person they like or love, but in our home my hubby always gives me the Chocolates, Red Roses, and the Wine for Valentines Day.  In the month of March on the 14th is when the boys or men gives the one they like or love and we call that day “White Day”.  I think the Chocolate makers makes the best on both days.lol

Well, back to the cooking.  Today Japanese Cooking Style is called  Steam Crab Dumplings or かにシューマイ in Japanese.  This is very delicious and great for those small parties.  It make a great side dish to compliment any main course dish. Enjoy

Lets see what we need to make our Steam Crab Dumplings.

Direction:

1. Place the ground pork into the bowl, add the chicken soup, sake, salt, pepper, soy sauce and sesame oil, mix together and knead well, keep 50g crabmeat aside for decoration and add the rest to the pork mixture, then mix together.

2. Add the onion, long green onion and bamboo shoots, finally, add the starch, mix well.

3. Place the spoonful of filling on to each pastry and form the shape, put the crabmeat on top for decoration

4. place the cabbage on a heat resistant dish, put the dumpling on it, and cover it with plastic wrap loosely, microwave for about 3- 4 min.

5. Combine the vinegar, soy sauce and ginger to make the dipping sauce(your taste), Serve the dumpling with sauce.
